In this section you will learn to add visual media to your e-portfolio. Visual Media means images and videos. You can take some images of your work places to show the worth of your profession. In addition, these captions or descriptions showcase your work and for most of your work samples, you will write short captions. Let’s review each part and then practice creating those short captions.

            Captions are usually one sentence, which describe images or videos about your work. It should include,

  • What you are showcasing?
  • For whom you work is for?
  • Location and Year

Formula;

Here is/are

This is / These are

A presentation

A speech

A project

A service

A product

A brochure

A portfolio

“Here is ……… for + clients in + place/time”

Question; How to write Description for the Captions?

            Description is the short paragraph with interesting characteristics, effectiveness, and personal reflection. Please avoid general adjectives such as “good / nice”, because they talk about opinion. Try to use descriptive adjectives. It should also include an explanation + client. You can answer the following questions, the answers of these questions will be the description of your captions.

Q1       How does your work look like?

Q2       Why your work special to you?

Q3       What are the essential characteristics of your work?

Q4       How did your work place help you professionally?

For example;

Caption

Here is the dining table which I made for the mayor in London in 2022.

Description:   This dining table is durable and custom-designed. It helped the mayor’s family seat up to 6 guests for their 50th anniversary.

It should also express positive feelings about your work. For this purpose, use positive adjectives describe feelings. Positive descriptive adjectives end with (-ed), such as interested. Remember, adjectives ending with (-ing), describe people/ object. Following is the formula to write about your feelings.

“I am + (positive adjectives with, -ed) + in name of the object.”

Example: “I am interested in this picture”.

Task: write down the description of your captions.
